PRIMARY PRODUCTION _DRAFT IS AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW
In late July, a dedicated group of individuals from industry, academic and regulatory sectors, completed the first DRAFT of Primary Prodcution sections of National Cantaloupe Guidance. Many people participated in the 16 developmental webinars, held weekly, to discuss and develop langauge that will provide guidance for the safe production and harvest of cantaloupes. We are now posting a PRIMARY PRODUCTION DRAFT and seeking additional feedback and commentary on the work to date and language in this document. It is our hope that (any) interested party will read and review the document and provide feedback to the facilitators. We are specifically interested in whether the langauge is clear and unambiguous, helpful in developing and/or improving preventive food safety programs in field and harvest operations and whether the draft is both protective and practical.
The DRAFT posted on this website is a clean pdf document (to aid in reading and review) and can be accessed here.
You may provide comments to any facilitator, use the comment tools on the website or you can contact me for a word version of the DRAFT and provide suggestions or edits directly.
While the broad review of these first sections of comprehensive guidance is underway, we are continuing with develomental sessions on remaining unit operations within the supply chain. During the weekly webinar sessions (every Tuesday at 9:00 am PST) draft langauge for facilities, operational control, transportation and many other areas is still being developed. You can track ongoing progress and engage in the discussion by visiting the Events and Resources pages of this website.
