NCG Document UPDATE

The National Cantaloupe Guidance has been modified to correct editorial errors in Sections 5.4.1 and 5.4.2 dealing with “Water for Primary Production”.

In these sections, prior language recommended that producers “use water that meets microbial standards for drinking water” including for “pre-blossom” irrigation water.

Developed by a broad, national coalition of industry stakeholders and government representatives, the National Commodity-Specific Food Safety Guidelines for Cantaloupes and Netted Melons is available free of charge. The guidance offers a comprehensive framework for ensuring the highest level of food safety in cantaloupe production.
