Hygienic recommendations for the primary production of fresh fruits are covered in general under the Code of Hygienic Practice for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (CAC/RCP 53-2003). The primary purpose of this Annex is to provide specific guidance on how to minimize microbiological hazards during primary production through packing and transport of fresh melons, including fresh melons processed for the pre-cut market and consumer use. This document will be used as a baseline for the cantaloupe specific guidance development process.
